GMO TECH selected for Fukushima Prefecture's Local Ambassador Program
Strengthening tourism promotion with Google Maps, social media, and AI.
GMO TECH, Inc. (President and CEO: Ryoichi Suzuki, hereinafter referred to as GMO TECH), a member of the GMO Internet Group, was selected as the contractor for the "Local Ambassador Operation Management and Information Dissemination Promotion Project" conducted by Fukushima Prefecture through a public proposal process on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
This project aims to strengthen information dissemination by certifying and training local ambassadors who will promote the region's attractions, in preparation for the "Fukushima Destination Campaign (hereinafter referred to as Fukushima DC)" to be held from April to June 2026.
GMO TECH plans to support local ambassadors' PR activities and website management through practical seminars that combine Google Maps, social media, and AI. This will help build momentum for "Fukushima DC" and strengthen the promotion of Fukushima Prefecture's attractions, contributing to the success of this project.

[Background of the project]
In recent years, with the spread of social media and online media, the primary source of information gathering when choosing a tourist destination has shifted to the internet. For local governments, utilizing digital tools for information dissemination has become crucial not only for attracting tourists but also for revitalizing local industries and expanding the number of visitors.
Against this backdrop, Fukushima Prefecture certified local ambassadors to promote the region's attractions in conjunction with the "Fukushima DC" campaign, and also conducted a public proposal process for businesses to manage information dissemination seminars and projects for these local ambassadors.
GMO TECH was selected for this project based on its track record of conducting an information dissemination seminar using Google Maps in Fukushima Prefecture in 2024, and its community-oriented operational system in collaboration with local company SCC Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Nobuyuki Sakuma, hereinafter referred to as SCC).
[About the "Fukushima Destination Campaign"]
"Fukushima DC" is a tourism campaign in which the JR Group, the prefecture, municipalities, and local tourism businesses work together to promote the attractions of each region. Held from April to June 2026 throughout Fukushima Prefecture in the spring, the campaign will use the catchphrase "Fukushima, the Wind of Happiness" and offer special tourism experiences through four themes: "The Blessing of the Wind," "The Fragrance of the Wind," "The Poem of the Wind," and "The Path of the Wind."
[Planned activities]
■ Google Maps & Social Media Marketing Seminar to be Held
We will conduct a customer acquisition seminar for local ambassadors, incorporating Google Maps, social media, and generative AI. We will take a multifaceted approach centered on a "digital x local" hybrid customer acquisition strategy that reliably reaches the target audience.
The seminar will introduce practical methods for information dissemination, including optimizing your Google Business Profile, effective communication methods on social media, and using AI-generated content creation, idea generation, and streamlining customer review responses.
The instructors will include a wide range of people, from experienced GMO TECH members to influencers specializing in local information dissemination, who will teach practical communication methods.
■ Local Ambassador Information Dissemination
SCC will disseminate information about recruiting local ambassadors through its town information magazine "Monthly CJ Monmo" and town information website "Daily CJ Monmo Web". By utilizing its network with restaurants and facilities within the prefecture through the magazine, it will deliver information to individuals and businesses in the prefecture who are interested in outing information, thereby improving the quality of local ambassadors.
■ Creation and provision of PR tools
We create a "Local Ambassador Certificate" and an "Original Pin Badge" and provide them to certified Local Ambassadors. This will boost the motivation of Local Ambassadors and encourage their enthusiastic activities.
■Web page operation and management
We will operate and manage a dedicated webpage for recruiting and announcing local ambassadors. We will also regularly send event information to local ambassadors, ensuring that the information is always up-to-date.
