Established GMO ReTech, a new company to develop real estate tech business
~Through apps for rental property owners and tenants, real estate-specific electronic contract services, etc.
Supporting digital transformation in the real estate rental sector
GMO TECH, Inc. (CEO: Akihito Suzuki, hereinafter referred to as "GMO TECH"), a GMO Internet Group company that provides online customer acquisition services, has established a new company, GMO Real Estate, Inc., with the aim of supporting DX (digital transformation) in the real estate rental sector. ReTechGMO ReTech, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as GMO ReTech) will be established on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 (planned).
GMO ReTech will develop its real estate tech business, known as "GMO Rental DX," which includes an application platform for rental property owners and tenants and an electronic contract service for real estate rental procedures.
GMO ReTech's mission is to "make rental property management easier" and will contribute to making rental property management more convenient.
[Background to establishment]
Previously, real estate lease agreements required the issuance of a paper document such as a "lease agreement" and a face-to-face explanation of important matters from a real estate agent to the tenant. However, after a social experiment conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, from October 2017, "IT important matters explanation" was introduced for lease transactions (lease agreements).(※ 1)" has gone into full operation, making it possible to provide explanations of important matters online. Furthermore, from October to December 2019, a social experiment was conducted to provide electronically the "lease contract" and "important matters explanation document" for sales contracts, including those for individuals, in electronic documents.(※ 2)The use of IT is being promoted, including the use of electronic contract services in the real estate field.
Furthermore, in light of the recent spread of COVID-19, expectations are high for "real estate tech," which combines technology with real estate operations, such as online viewing services using VR technology and services for managing and operating real estate and customer information online, and it is expected that the use of IT will continue to spread in the future.
Meanwhile, GMO TECH was established in December 2006 and provides a comprehensive range of online customer acquisition services, including customer acquisition support for companies, online advertising, SEO measures, etc. It was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers in December 2014 and has supported the businesses of many companies with its in-house developed products that make full use of its advanced technological capabilities.
GMO TECH has decided to apply the technological capabilities it has cultivated through its online customer acquisition support business to the new field of real estate rentals, and has established GMO ReTech. Through GMO ReTech, we will promote the digital shift in the real estate rental field and ultimately assist with digital transformation.
In addition, starting with the establishment of GMO ReTech, which will promote the real estate tech business, GMO TECH aims to transform into a DX company by providing SaaS-based services that support DX.

About GMO Rent-A-Car DX
GMO ReTech will develop its real estate tech services, such as an application platform for rental property owners and tenants, and an electronic contract service for real estate rental procedures, under the brand name "GMO Chintai DX."
GMO ReTech's "GMO Rental DX" is scheduled to offer the following services.
■ App platform and electronic contract service for rental property owners
The company plans to provide an application platform for rental property owners by the end of 2020. The app is expected to provide management companies with a screen where they can manage tenant information, monthly income and expenditure reports, and functions for managing rental agreements.
■App platform and electronic contract service for rental property tenants
The company plans to provide an application platform for rental property tenants around January 2021. The app is expected to include features such as a bulletin board and the ability to manage rental agreements, as well as rent transfer accounts.
■ Real estate industry specialized electronic contract system/real estate industry specialized virtual account system
We plan to add a feature in the first half of 2021 that will allow users to manage lease agreements and accounts without having to install the aforementioned application platform.
